A couple weeks ago, I sent my Garmin Forerunner 305 back to Garmin for repairs. The thing just wouldn’t pick up a satellite signal anymore. Since then, I’ve had a lot of what I call “Zen Runs” which I really love. During these runs, I don’t carry any techno gadgets with me (no iPod or watch). I use these runs to really focus on my breathing and meditate. I never worry about any technique or pace. I just focus on the present. I highly recommend doing them. They feel liberating!

My Garmin is back
Wednesday, May 26th, 201010 mile zen run…
Sunday, April 25th, 2010I did another 10 mile “zen run” before sunrise this morning. It’s been the second time I’ve done it and I look forward to doing it more often. I call it zen run because, it’s a run when I don’t listen to any music or I don’t worry about my pace, time, or technique. I just run at an easy pace and focus on more on being present and on my breathing. I use these runs to meditate. I highly recommend it!
This A.M.’s interval workout
Sunday, April 18th, 2010I did a 6 x 400 meters interval workout this morning at the ol’ college track. It’s the first time I’ve done track workouts since January. I felt great doing the 6 laps. i didn’t push myself too much. I also convinced my wife to jog with me during some laps. I’m looking forward to do more of these in the next few month. Due to schedule and budget, my wife and I decided that I will just run the Jacksonville Bank Marathon in December. I will have enough time before that. But during the off season, I’ll probably focus more on getting some more speed work and some strength training.
Site was hacked
Sunday, April 18th, 2010I just found out that this site was hacked the last few days. I spent too much time running and not paying attention to my site’s security. I’ll be working on getting things patched up soon. Thanks to kido-newbie for not deleting all my posts.
Marathon #2 ideas
Thursday, April 8th, 2010Summer is just around the corner and I’ve begun to trim down my mileage to less than 20 miles per week. My last big race was the Gate River Run 15K last March. (Another PR!) Next year, I’m definitely going to shoot for a sub 1:20 on that one. Anyways, since I don’t like running in warm weather, I am currently doing more leg workouts. I also started thinking about my next marathon.
The 3 that I’m currently thinking of doing are:
1. Chicago?
2. Marine Corps. in DC
3. ING Georgia
4. San Antonio RnR?
5. Jacksonville
As much as possible, I would rather not do one here in local Jacksonville, but depending on the schedule and budget, I might not be able to do an out of town one. I love to travel and I would rather run 26.2 miles some place new.
